Tarot Online
At the heart of Sepulchre, is the story about a deck of Tarot cards, which is known variously as the Bousquet or the Vernier Tarot. In a strange case of art becoming life, when you tap in 'Vernier Tarot' to your search engine, it appears on the web even though the deck doesn't actually exist.
I had eight of the key cards painted, however - The Fool, The Magician, The High Priestess, The Lovers, Strength, Justice, the Devil, the Tower - to represent leading characters in the novel.
To coincide with publication in America, there will be coverage on many different Tarot websites, which I'm delighted about. I interviewed more than 25 Tarot readers as part of my research, in the UK, in America and in France. I wanted to have advice from women (mostly) and men who engaged with Tarot now, to see how they felt about what they did and how they would advise me to write about it, as a curious outsider. I used the comments, the emotions, the experiences - theirs and mine - to underpin the Tarot story in Sepulchre.
I'd love to hear what those of you who care about Tarot, who engage on a regular basis with Tarot, think about Sepulchre. I hope I've got most of it right, although I'm sure there will be things I've misunderstood or misrepresented in the fiction. Check the sites out. Post your thoughts. Share your ideas.

I have been doing the tarot since I was 17 years old,and I'm 58 now. I have noticed that the tarot came true more often if you did it for a much closer time frame. Perhaps it gives credence to the I Ching's concept that we have some free will.

As someone who sees the value of tarot as a set of symbols to help people arrange their thoughts and actions, it was downright refreshing to see Ms. Mosse's treatment of tarot in Sepulchre.
Not to mention music; Sepulchre hit a lot of nerves.
I can't stand 'historic' novels that ignore history; the first two books of the Languedoc Trilogy have only made me hungry for more.

My ancestors were French Nobles Catholics, Hugonoets.
I am not French so reading Kates book really brings to life the History of Carcasonne and the language of Occittan which a bit of a local secret.
Occittania was Part of the Empire of Rome so you see the Latin influence through that Language.
Its nice to see bits of it in the book and the similarity to Italian, French and Spanish its like the bridge between the the three Languages.
THe mysteries of the books the origins of religion facinate me my ancestors supposidly took part in the first Crusade to the Holy Land a crusade that was Peasants, Lords and Clergy. Its a pitty its seen as linked with the Albignesian Crusade though which was about Cruelty and intollerance of different religeons and those that took part were not those linked to the Templars or to those in the First Crusades to the East.
The first Crusade to Jerusalem was prompted by the New Religeon of the East (that had very little tolerance for Jews or Christians) thats why Barons, Peasant alike took part.
I used to read the Tarots when young but became scared and dissatified - God bestows Gifts to poeple what ever your religion the devil deceives
Trust in God what ever your religion and free will is more important than seeing a pre destined fate and the thought of haveing no power of the future, that can cave you in. So do I read tarots anymore, well no.

I've been interested in Tarot for a long time, and finally ordered a deck right before I started this book. If any of you have connections to the USPS, tell them to rush my package!! Sepulchre has only made me even more anxious to start reading my cards!! Wonderful books, Ms. Mosse - you had me at Labyrinth. =) More soon, please!
